Nother snow pix

Here is a picture of the ice and snow.  I always have liked to look at long icicles  These weren't the longest I have seen but the total pix is one of my favs.  The snow on the bushes in the foreground show how much snow we had.

White out...

Here is an example of the amount of snow that arrives in a Blizzard.  In the summer we call this the Shady Swing, but now it would be hard to swing at all. The wind howled all night and the snow drifted.  It was interesting to see how the areas adjacent to the cars looked.  There were places with feet of snow and others that the old snow underneath was bare.   The winds and snow brought back memories of Blizzards Past.  One in particular, where I spent hours, alone, in a car stuck in a snow drift.. I was 8.  That experience makes me prepare for bad conditions, when the weather reports are for bad conditions.

FAIRIEly Cold..

My Grandter and I put these fairy clings up on the window back in warmer weather.  Then there was a background of trellis and sweetpeas, now it is snow and twigs.  Tinker is peeking at me for taking such an odd picture.  We had a real blizzard yesterday and today.  There were hard winds and blowing snow all night and into today.  The sun came out about noon and I took a bunch of pictures.  We haven't heard the amount of snow here, our yard has areas of drifting and others of the bare hard old snow under the new stuff.

Wishfull thinking....

Wish it looked like this outside today!  Snowapalooza has started and we are hunkering down for the duration.  Have plenty of food and such, but hope the electricity doesn't go out.  When I was 8 and 9 we lived in Central Kansas, and had a couple of real hard Blizzards.  We lost power for 3 months and had to pump the water at the windmill, then carry it from the basement up to the kitchen, using outdoor stairs.    We made candles from wax and crayolas, used kerosene lamps.  When school opened back up, I had to walk in deep snow a mile+ to get on an open trailer, pulled by a tractor to go another 2 miles to the closest open road.
