I love the rain!  I remember playing in the rain when I was about 3, sloshing in the gutters and just having fun.  I loved to watch the lightening and hear the thunder.  While we lived on the farm, I spent alot of time up on the top of the barn, watching storms.  I could see all the horizon and I watched the storms form.  It is a wonder that I didn't get struck by lightening!  When I was in Jr. High a tornado came very  close to our house.  I was out riding my bike when it began to hail, then everything got "greenish" and I heard the "train noise".  I didn't realize what had happened until I saw a car go by that was covered in mud and had all it's windows out.  The guy driving was muddy and shirtless.  That tornado killed 5 people, most were in cars on the highway.  I would jump at the chance to go storm chasing!  I saw a funnel a few years ago and wished I had gotten a picture of it.  I stopped on the interstate to watch it.

Today's post is from a challenge...

Here is my entry for the monthly challenge in Florals and Botanicals on Wet Canvas.  I used a bunch of different kinds of media to make this, sorta experimenting.  I used pencil, pen and ink (both colors and blacks), colored pencils, watercolor pencils and markers.  I wanted a bright flowers and lots of contrast.  The experiments with the different pencils, inks and markers made for the randomness of the patterns in each part of the flowers and leaves.  I haven't decided if I like this or not.

Back to my Altered Book posts # 54

These two pages are finished, at least I think they are. I decided to use printed poems and quotes on some pages. On all of them I am using collages of printed materials.  It would take me forever to do them by hand.  Cut and paste is much faster! 8-)

#50 ? (really is 53)

I looked back and I made 3 posts that were labeled #38, so this is really #53, not 50! If this ATC is a repeat, it is Blogger's fault!  I aam not sure I like this new add a picture idea.  Oh, well I am not an expert on anything 'puter!  What do I know!  I need to take somemore pictures of my altered pages.  I have been working on them and have a few more done.  Hope to remember to get them ready to post here tomorrow. 8- )

MUM's the word.....# 49

Guess that Blogger has "added another" more complicated way to get pictures onto a blog. Makes more work...at least I think so. Here is the latest ATC card that I have done.  I cut cards from a file folder that had a logo on it.  It looked like a mum to me, so I used it in the design of the card. I think it turned out OK, but that is just my oppinion.

# 48 Another just for the heck of it ATC

I love doing ATCs and this is one of the time-takers I did at the doctor's office.  The time in the waiting lobby is always an unknown factor and doing an ATC can be done in minutes or multiples can take advantage of longers times.  I start with a flowing line and then embellish it.  I add the colors later at home.  It is easy to carry a few cards and a pen in my pocket or bag.

#47 Another ATC card...

This is the first of a new group of ATC cards.  I made this bunch just for the heck of it.  It is a City Skape that I made from a sketch I did while in a lobby waiting for a dr's appointment.  It is not to scale or even acurate as to what it shows.  It is loosely based on the Chicago skyline. I need to retake the picture, it is fuzzy.

# 46 Altered Book Page...

This is another page in my altered book, it is almost finished.   I need to write about what it signifies to me.  I spent my days on our farm, in Central Kansas,  doing whatever I wanted to do.  Most of the time it was just me and my dog.  We went everywhere my legs or bike could take us.  Summers were hot and winters cold.  We had tornadoes and blizzards.  I spent alot of time studing everything that nature provided.  Snakes, tadpoles, fish, flowers and grasses were interesting to me.  I caught tadpoles with a fryer basket and studied them from egg to frog.

#45 Altered Book Pages

This shows the first completed page in my journal/book.  The one on the right is finished, I will add writings and quotes to the left pages at another time.  I like this page, and I hope to finish the whole thing soon.

#44 Holy cow!

Where did the week go???
I didn't think I had missed more than one day of posting!  I have been busy with other projects, so here are 2 more ATCs.  I have received half of the exchange cards form all over the world.  I am having fun opening each one and seeing what another artist has doodled.

#43 Something different...

Kite day.
I went to see the kites and it was a nice day to be out.  It was almost too windy, but all the kites liked it!  They went higher than any other of the years I went to see them.  As one can see in this picture there were kites as big as cars.  The cars are right by the kites.  The black penquin is much bigger than the striped ball kite and it is only a few feet from the cars.  The long narrow ribbon is closer to me, so it doesn't show it's size right.  I took pictures and sketched, since I didn't have a kite.

#42 Pair of cards

Some of my cards were photographed while laying on a sheet of colored paper. I used paper in several pads that were made for scrapbooking.  I don't do much of that, but the papers come in handy for other uses.  The cards look like they are framed.  This pair is on hand cut manilla folder cards.  The bottom one has a star as it's begining, the other is more random.

#41 Another view....

Here is another view of my WIP Journal.  I have been working on the journal today.  It still has several pages in the back that are not glued.  I need to spend time on the actual work and not so much planning.  I spent too much time looking at free graphics, I should have been cuting and glueing!  My goal is to be consistent with a page done every day or two.

# 40 Sumpthin' different

This is an Altered Book journal I have started.  It is a journal I plan to make for myself, using lots of artsy ideas.  The used book I am using was 25 cents at the Salvation Army store near me.  I hate to ruin a book, but I decided to " bite the bullet" and start altering! I have done several steps in my process.  I will try and post pictures as it progresses.

#38 'nother set

These two were done on cards I cut from used manilla envelopes.  I did them in ink and colored pencils. I messed up with my lists, each was done in a different order...dumb.  I hope I haven't reposted..yet.

# 38 more of the same...

I can think of many names for these two cards.  They are similar in their subjects, but I think the added color makes alot of difference.  I had knee surgery today and I made cards with pen/ink while waiting for my turn in the Operating Room.  I zoned out on them!  It really helped handle the pre-op  jitters.

#38 Two fish cards...

Here are two of a series of fish cards I have made.  I hand draw each of these and hand color them.  Each one has it's own personality, but they are all named Fishy Fishy.  These two are on their way to new owners, as part of the exchange.

37 ish

Another series of ATC cards for the exchange.  I like to do a series, when I make a card I like.  This series is based on simple shapes.  I draw a simple shape and then make the rest of the doodle come from it.

This one started with the six sided shape.

This one started with the square.  I like doing these in black and white, so the contrast shows the patterns.

36 I think...

Here is another pair of my ATCs.  I love making them and so I have alot.  These have been mailed out to others in the exchange I am participating in. I did about 3 kinds or styles on my cards.  These are done on paper that I color washed with watercolors and then used pens.   I think they look like maps.

35 2 more

This is gonna be another of my pairs of ATCs.  These are two that I sent out to be exchanged.  I have received a few of the cards from the other exchangers.
