Fifth flower in my series
Here is the finished rose. I did all of these freehand ( no tracing) and on 5x7 paper. I used more ink on this one, than the others I have done. I had trouble with mixing shadows in yellows. I need more practice with light colors. This rose was planted last summer and is the first rose bloom of the summer.

Fourth in Spring Flowers in My Garden
I forgot all about time on this one! This picture was taken w/o flast, I might like it better with flash. It seems a little dull. Next I will do a yellow rose..that will take more time, too.

Third in Spring Flowers From My Garden
I did great on the time, but got some opaque Naples mixed in with my reds and yellows. Not good! I couldn't get the vibrant color of red/orange I wanted. There is only one stem of this plant blooming right now, so maybe I will try again, later.

Strike whil the iron is hot!
Here is number two in my series of Spring Floweres From My Garden. This is a plant that I planted about 15 yrs ago. It reseeds itself each year. I am going to try and keep this one quick like the last one. It is hard to limit myself to an hour, but I am trying to force myself to be looser in my painting.

Met my goal....
Yea!
I finished this 5x7 watercolor with ink in just about an hour. This is an accomplishment for me. What I usually do is much more detailed and takes too long to do. I have a problem in knowing when to stop.
I think this one is pretty good considering the limits I placed on myself. I want to try and do more like it, maybe a series.

I took this picture of my pear tree earlier this Spring. I cropped it and am going to do a picture of it in watercolors and maybe ink. Haven't had any fruit from this tree. Planted it about 4 yrs ago and it was unlabled at the garden shop. I want to do a very fast simple bright picture, maybe several pictures.Tuesday, June 8, 2010
